The Canadian Sponsorship Forum comes to Halifax for the IIHF World Hockey Championship

Toronto, ONTARIO – April 4, 2008 – The Canadian Sponsorship Forum is back for its fourth year and organizers are proud to be partnering with Events Halifax and Hockey Canada, in conjunction with the IIHF World Hockey Championship to present Canada’s premier sponsorship marketing events.

Forum producers, TrojanOne launched the Forum in 2005 in conjunction with the CFL and the Grey Cup. In 2006, delegates were hosted by the Calgary Exhibition & Stampede. The Toronto International Film Festival hosted the Forum in 2007. The Forum’s unique format includes traditional conference content, but adds a special level of programming around that year’s partner. This year, delegates will experience the national pride associated with hosting a world championship and enjoy Halifax’s world famous hospitality. Delegates will be taken on a VIP tour of Alexander Keith’s Brewery, take in a game or two at the Red Stag Pub, enjoy an evening reception at Pier 21, join in the fun at FanFest and all of the Forum’s three-day delegates will be heading to the arena to see Team Canada take on Team USA.

Back for 2008 is the Forum’s association with the Institute for Sport Marketing (ISM). Over the past few months, ISM has been conducting a comprehensive research study on the size and scope of Canada’s sponsorship industry. This ongoing research is vital to our understanding of sponsorship spending and activation in this country. These important findings will be presented exclusively at the Canadian Sponsorship Forum by ISM Director, Norm O’Reilly, Ph.D and University of Ottawa Associate Professor, Benoît Séguin.

Speakers at this year’s Forum include a well-balanced look at the best in Canadian sponsorship from the realms of sport, art, culture, cause and research. Notable speakers include Pierre Lafontaine, CEO of Swim Canada, Stephen Beatty, Managing Director of Toyota Canada; Don Mayo, Managing Partner from IMI International; Marie Mullally, President & CEO of the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation; Kristine Wilson, Associate Director, Bell Canada; Joelle Berdugo Adler, Founder of One X One and many more.
